The World Cup has had no shortage of action this year. The tournament started off a little slow and goal scoring was few and far between, as were phantom calls by the referees, but all that has changed. At least the goal scoring part.

The following are some things we have learned from the most recent games. It only seems destined to get more interesting from here.

This summer’s European Football Championships held in Switzerland and Austria has been hailed as a massive success. The vast majority of games were full of excitement and goals and there were very few unsavory incidents. Many supporters and experts have expressed their belief that the tournament was one of the best ever. The eventual winners were Spain who were regarded as the best team not only by virtue of the winning score line but also they were the team that played the best football, scored the most goals and conceded the least.

The Beijing Olympics are now a month away including the Under 23’s Olympic football tournament to be held at different venues in China. While many people may think otherwise, it is actually a tournament with a lot of history and with a lot of purpose. It’s the way it usually is. Every 4 years when the FIFA World Cup is held many players, usually the goalkeepers, voice their opinions against the new soccer ball model that they will use in the tournament. But this year things are going a bit further. It is not only the keepers who are complaining but players from distinct positions who are raising their concerns.
