Les Bleus

This video may have been floating around the internet for ages, with persistent rumors of its existence spliced into clips, but for those of us new to the Zizou and friends doing karaoke in a Turkish steam bath…well, this should either make or break your day.

Being sure the scene for this little clip is set properly, it includes…

– Some men nude, some in towels. – Steam. – A shower. – Laurent Blanc’s blurred-out man parts. – White boy dancing. – At least one world class mustache.

Do you suppose nude dancing, steam bathes and mustaches was the missing… Continue reading

As if Frank Ribery hadn’t endeared himself enough to Les Bleus fan, he has now declared himself ‘almost German.’  Politically, its a smart move – at least for his club, Bayern Munich. After a long negotiation process (which endured some controversy), Ribery signed a long-term contract last year that will keep him at the club until 2015.  And Ribery apparently has no regrets about his decision…

Extending my contract with Bayern was the right decision. They are a great club on the international stage and at the same time they are a real family club

Ribery has… Continue reading

Will Trezeguet’s performance for Hercules be enough to catch Blanc’s attention?

If David Trezeguet has anything to say about it, then yes. On this Sunday’s edition of Telefoot, he declared himself “available” to Blanc should his former France teammate decide to call him up.

In the past, Trezeguet has not always been “available” to France’s previous coach, Raymond Domenech.  Trezeguet hasn’t been a consistent call-up for France since 2006 – supposedly because Domenech never really forgave him for missing his penalty in the 2006 World Cup final against Italy.  Since his last call up in 2008 (when he… Continue reading

Though he could probably walk into any international midfield in the world save for Spain, it seems the nature of Zizou’s surprise showing at Clairefontaine was more training for his eventual political career – handshakes, photos, kissing babies, etc. – than training for a surprise return to the football pitch.

But given how the summer went for France, don’t be surprised if Laurent Blanc names him in the starting XI on Friday, completely unbeknownst to Zizou.

In England, it is not unusual for the private lives of football players to make the front pages of newspapers. Its not unusual for papers to print stories (alleging!) players are sending pornographic photos of themselves to random women across the country, engaging in extra-marital activities and impregnating numerous women along the way. The (alleged) scandal involving John Terry, Wayne Bridge and Wayne Bridge’s former girlfriend (and mother of his child) definitely broke the mold when it surfaced this summer (for the record, she denied it). Regardless, the idea behind this scandal “struck a cord” (read: sold a… Continue reading

The French Football Federation has handed down punishments to the players involved in the infamous World Cup 2010 revolt. Big loser is Monsieur Nicolas Anelka, who started the whole thing by suggesting that coach Raymond Domenech do something anatomically impossible during halftime of the 2-0 defeat to Mexico.

Anelka received an 18 game ban from the FFF. That’s 18 international games. If you take a look at France’s schedule you’ll see that between now and October 2011, there are only 14 games planned. So Anelka will be suspended for the entirety of France’s Euro 2012 campaign and then some. Anelka… Continue reading
