NFL Draft Spotlight By Group – #14 Decide On By The Seattle Seahawks

Pete Carroll Seahawks. #14 – Seattle Seahawks – Derrick Morgan – Georgia Tech

The Seahawks carry Bryan Bulaga in this mock draft with their #6 opt for to help keep their QB upright. Using the up coming decide on, the Seahawks use a couple of requirements, but the ideal value is with Derrick Morgan from Georgia Tech. The beginning DEs (Patrick Kerney and Lawrence Jackson) got less than ten sacks concerning them in 2009. Patrick Kerney can be 33 a long time old and was injured for many of… Continue reading

Animated Diego Forlan Golden Ball Tribute

I officially heart this. Because the only personal honour better then receiving the World Cup Golden Ball for best player – as Uruguay’s Diego Forlan did – is having a cartoon/song combo made to immortalize your achievement. According to The Spoiler, the celebratory song is by The Golden Vuvuzelas and features the line “his hair is like the sun on the Uruguay flag”. Superb.

Even better that that is the animated recreation of Luis Suarez’ “save” against Ghana, at the 0:45 mark, which makes the moment look perhaps a… Continue reading

World Cup 2010 Awards (official FIFA ones, not ours)

With all the World Cup action over and all the votes tallied, the World Cup awards can now be handed out. And there’s a lot of gold to go around. There’s the Golden Ball for best player (plus silver and bronze for runners up), the Golden Boot for top scorer, the Golden Glove (just one, this ‘aint boxing) for best goalkeeper and the not so golden but still prestigious Best Young Player award (the Golden iPod?)

Read on for an overview of who won what:

The World Cup Awards: June 24th, 2010.

Team of the Day: Japan. How impressive has this team been over the course of this World Cup? Just an alarmingly organized and well-drilled side which is maximizing the very most of its talents – and today, the offensive talents were finally put on show when Keisuke Honda and Yasuhito Endo were handed a set piece.

The world shall stop revolving, some six billion people stop breathing when those two stand over a free kick against Paraguay. Justo Villar best get some adult diapers ready. Team of the Day… Continue reading

Preview: Greece vs. Argentina

THE BIG PICTURE

For Greece there’s a bit on the line – for all teams in the group, really – but let’s be frank: most will be tuning in for another glimpse at the man of the tourney thus far, Lionel Messi. He dazzled once again against South Korea and will be up against a Greek defense which has its holes. Diego’s already said it’d be a “sin” to sit Messi, and he might just be right.

The qualification story is on the Greek side, however, and it doesn’t… Continue reading

Preview: Ivory Coast v. Portugal

THE BIG PICTURE

Until last week this match was the story two powers in the Group O’Death. When the Ivory Coast took on Japan in a friendly, the scope of the game took a drastic turn and shifted the light onto Didier Drogba’s elbow, which was broken in a clash and put his World Cup in serious doubt. Beyond his status as the Ivory Coast’s best player and leader, he’s one of Africa’s largest sporting icons, many consider him the best footballer, and a symbol of the World Cup itself.… Continue reading
