Bbc

As ironies go, this one’s pretty good given the full spectrum of their acronym, and all, even if it’s no longer surprising.

Everyone knows that the BBC’s decision to broadcast their Panorama expose just two days before the vote hurt their chances. It was likely directly responsible for their exit in the first round of voting, even, though it’s unlikely they were getting the tournament anyway (FIFA’s lost its taste for vanilla, it seems).

But one of the voters has explained just how badly it burned. And that it was racist, which, let’s be honest, isn’t going to earn many… Continue reading

And yes, the BBC is on the list, possibly ranked one through three.

Ghosting around the internet today is like stumbling through a scorched earth, and anything with a superfluous u runs the gamut from rage to sorrow to bewilderment to magnanimousness, having been forcibly removed of their inalienable right to win the bid. Because they’re England, or something.

Hopefully this video can bring a sense of understanding and closure to the grand old tournament which will be World Cup 2018: Not England, allowing an entire nation to move on and maybe, just maybe, admit that if David Cameron… Continue reading

As confessions go, this one ranks in the all-time pantheon of greats…and those providing too much information.

Discussing the 1990 World Cup on BBC radio, Gary Lineker let the world in on a little secret as to the state of his back end during the Ireland game, and offers a little insight as to why any grown man would drag his ass across a World Cup pitch. Stoke City winger Jermaine Pennant says he’d gladly to sign a permanent contract within the club in January.

The 27-year-old joined the Potters for the six-month loan deal from Spanish club Real Zaragoza in August and contains since made nine appearances.

“If the 2 main teams can agree something I will be greater than content with put pen to paper,” Pennant said.

Boss Tony Pulis has expressed his desire for keeping the first sort Liverpool man along at the club.

Speaking yesterday evening, Pulis told BBC Radio Stoke: “He’s the best lad, he’s been pretty decent for all of us… Continue reading

The much anticipated BBC documentary detailing the probe into FIFA’s handling of World Cup bids was finally aired, with some unsurprisingly surprising results: they’re quite dirty.

The man running the show is the rather infamous Andrew Jennings, who earned his fame by running afoul of FIFA, writing a book on their dabblings on the wrong side of integrity.

Though informative, unfortunately we can only assume nothing will change, as this is FIFA, and FIFA’s been doing whatever it wants for years.

Still, however, a good watch.
