Work starts on underpass at Stoke City’s Britannia Stadium
Work has started on a pedestrian underpass at Stoke City’s Britannia Stadium. The £1.5 million pound subway is being built underneath Stanley Matthews Way to stop fans walking across the road. Head of Development at Stoke City Football Club Richard Smith, said: “The underpass had to be built as pedestrians use the road as a footpath. “Stanley Matthews Way was never intended to be used as a pedestrian crossing.” The underpass is hoped to be finished by Stoke’s first home game of the season at the Britannia Stadium.
